Chand Roz Aur Meri Jaan

‘For anyone to create poems anytime, someone has to live poems all the time.’ And
‘While Faiz created poems of ineffable beauty, Alys has lived poems all the time.’
This is borne out by their letters, written to each other, which also brings forth
two facets of humanism. From 1951 to 1955, during Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s imprisonment
in Pakistan, his British wife Alys and Faiz exchanged letters between themselves.
‘Chand Roz Aur Meri Jaan’ is a performance based on these letters. The letters symbolize
our hopes, our aspirations and embodied in them are our ‘singing tomorrows’. Reading
them, one is convinced that cause endures, hope lingers and that dreams shall not
die.
The enchanting voice of Salima Raza along with the powerful presence of Banwari
Taneja, will cast a spell on the crowd with beautiful poetry and magical
music weaved into the performance of reciting these letters.
